Rockcastle County Middle School students in the Class of 2031 and Class of 2032 participated in an exciting KEDC GEAR UP ELEVATE Launch Day event this morning, kicking off a partnership focused on preparing students for future academic and career success.
The event introduced students to the goals and opportunities of the KEDC GEAR UP ELEVATE program, which is designed to increase academic performance and readiness for postsecondary education, raise high school graduation and college-going rates, and expand student and family knowledge of postsecondary options and financing opportunities.
As part of the launch experience, students also had the opportunity to participate in a hands-on LEGO challenge alongside partners from LEGO Education. The activity encouraged teamwork, creativity, communication, and problem-solving while helping students build important leadership and collaboration skills in a fun and engaging way.
Through the KEDC GEAR UP ELEVATE program, students and families will have access to a variety of supports and opportunities, including academic support and college readiness programming, mentoring opportunities, financial literacy education, parent and family engagement workshops, early intervention supports, and professional development for educators.
The launch day event helped inspire students to begin thinking about their future goals and the many pathways available to them as they continue their educational journey.
Rockcastle County Schools is proud to partner with KEDC to provide meaningful opportunities that support student growth, achievement, and future success as Rocket Learners and Rocket Leaders.
